Emotional Freedom Unleashed
Emotional Freedom – a phrase that holds both mystery and promise. It’s the art of allowing ourselves to be empowered by our emotions rather than feeling controlled or overwhelmed by them. It’s about embracing our feelings, seeing and understanding the valuable messages they bring, helping us navigate the world around us with a newfound ease.
Unveiling Emotions: Beyond the Invisible
Laughter - is a universal language (uplifting energy); it unites and creates connections with others. We can choose to make laughter intentional; no comedy or humour required. In doing so, it can become the very key to unlocking the wonders of Emotional Freedom.
In today’s fast-paced, multi-sensory world, we are bombarded by stimuli—notifications, information, and demands. Amid the perceived chaos, it can be easy to lose touch with who we are and who we would like to be. Leaving us feeling powerless and searching for purpose.
We are encouraged to share our emotions with others, but that can seem difficult or daunting when we don’t really understand them or struggle to find the words to describe them ourselves. Many of us do not feel supported with the right language to express how we truly feel.
Initiated (BraveHearty) Laughter
What is an emotion really? Cambridge, Britannica, and Oxford Dictionaries all agree. ‘An emotion is a strong feeling.’ (“Is it? Aye”* Well that really clears that up, doesn’t it.) Emotions are invisible yet immensely powerful, as they shape our lives moment by moment. But can we truly feel something we can’t see or touch it?
*Quoting one of my favourite Scottish comedians, Kevin Bridges.

Emotional Freedom - the very phrase resonates with possibility. It’s about allowing ourselves to be empowered by emotions, rather than feeling at their mercy. Imagine harnessing their energy, like a superhero tapping into their innate abilities.
I want to take a moment and talk to you about energy.
The Dance of Energy
Now, let’s talk energy. We, as human beings, are more than just physical beings. We are energy in motion, intricate dances of particles as our seemingly solid bodies pulse with life. This energy makes up our very essence. If we accept this, then it’s not too far of a stretch to think of emotions, which are also energy having a physical response on our body. When your heart races with excitement or your tummy churning when you feel nervous, that’s energy expressing itself as emotion.
Every Emotion Leaves a Trace
Every emotion has a physical counterpart; those tears, whether from sorrow or joy, are tangible responses. Sometimes they are so subtle that we are unaware. By tuning in to our ‘feelings,’ we unlock our Emotional Freedom Superpower.
We are meant to feel a wide range of emotions, not just the ones we would describe as ‘positive’. Each feeling provides valuable information. However, it can be easy to become overwhelmed by emotions that feel difficult and challenging.
Weight of Worries
Not only that, but our brains are remarkably adaptable.
Initiated laughter stimulates neuroplasticity—the brain’s ability to rewire itself. As we laugh intentionally, new neural connections form. These connections enhance emotional flexibility, making it easier to navigate life’s challenges.
Initiated Laughter gives you the chance to sit that backpack filled with unexpressed feelings down, even if it is just for a little rest. It releases physical tension, relaxes muscles, and reminds us that we have power over the physical impact our emotions have on us.
Initiated Laughter doesn’t get rid of life’s difficulties—loss, stress, and disappointments—but it helps build our resilience to help us face these difficulties head-on and without feeling powerless.
Initiated laughter bridges the gap between “positive” and “negative” emotions. It’s a reminder that both are valid. When we laugh, we honour our humanity, acknowledging that emotions ebb and flow.
Remember, Emotional Freedom isn’t about avoiding difficult feelings; it’s about embracing them while also savouring moments of joy. Even in the most challenging of times, emotionally, the power lies within you; that is your true Superpower.
Rainbow Palette of Emotions
During these times, it is vitally important that we find ways to regularly infuse joy into our lives. It is important that we experience the full palette of emotions. It is important to find balance. While other mindfulness and wellbeing practices can feel illusive and out of reach. Anyone can practice Initiated Laughter even if just for a few minutes in an otherwise stressful day. It’s like opening a door to emotions we might otherwise overlook.

Initiated (BraveHearty) Laughter
promotes emotional flexibility
Regular practice creates a positive feedback loop, reinforcing neural pathways associated with joy. Due to the mind-body connection, even if your initiated laughter is simulated (fake), your mind responds to it as if it were real. So, your mind and body work together to make you feel as though you are really experiencing moments of joy and all the health benefits that go along with them.
When we suppress or hold onto these emotions, they can begin to feel all-consuming. Emotions are felt physically. ‘Negative’ feelings create a physical tension in the body, and the longer we hold on to them, the heavier they feel. Imagine carrying a heavy backpack filled with unexpressed feelings—it weighs us down, affecting both mind and body.
